A 14-year-old teenager was killed in a crash early Saturday morning when a car with two other teens inside struck a tree, police said.
The 17-year-old driver was heading south on State Road 821, an extension of Florida’s Turnpike, around 1:30 a.m. when the car slid off the exit ramp to Allapattah Road and onto a grassy shoulder, said Florida Highway Patrol spokesman Lt. Yosdany Veloz. The driver tried to correct the steering but struck two palm trees before coming to a stop, Veloz said.
The victim, whose name was not released, was sitting in the front passenger seat and died. The driver and another 14-year-old passenger in the back seat were injured but in stable condition, Veloz said.
