A flood advisory issued for parts of South Florida Friday morning has ended, but rain and thunderstorms are expected to persist throughout the weekend.

The National Weather Service had issued two flood advisories for parts of northeastern and east-central Miami-Dade County Friday, including Hialeah, Miami and Miramar down to Coral Gables, South Miami, Kendall, Pinecrest and Richmond Heights. Nearly 5 inches of rain were measured at Miami International Airport Friday morning.

The flood advisory for the northeastern portion of the county lasted till noon, and for east-central Miami-Dade ended before 1 p.m. But rain clouds are likely to return soon: Friday’s evening forecast calls for scattered thunderstorms with rain, and more precipitation is expected Saturday and Sunday.
