From a news release:
Unity on the Bay, a dynamic and positive spiritual community embracing all faiths for over 85 years, will provide same-sex couples free marriage ceremonies on its campus adjacent to beautiful Biscayne Bay. The ceremonies will take place on Saturday, January 10th starting at 10:00am. The ministers of Unity on the Bay, known for their vibrant spiritual messages, will officiate the ceremonies.
The congregation is excited to open their doors and join the LGBTQ community in support and to celebrate the landmark decision allowing same-sex couples the right to marry in Florida. Juan del Hierro, Director of Ministry Empowerment at Unity on the Bay, along with his partner Tom, SAVE and other couples throughout Florida were plaintiffs in the ACLU’s historic marriage case. Juan says “Unity has a history of being at the forefront of the equality movement. They were with Tom and I throughout this ordeal – holding us in prayer and having faith that love always wins.” Rev. Chris Jackson, Senior Minister of Unity on the Bay, says “Unity on the Bay teaches that all people are expressions of God and entitled to equal rights regardless of race, gender, gender expression or sexual orientation. We are a diverse spiritual community, and we are proud to be a part of this momentous occasion by offering this service to our community.”
