Unity Coalition, South Florida’s Hispanic LGBT equality group, is holding a fundraiser Wednesday night to benefit Silvio da Silva, a Palace regular recently diagnosed with lung cancer that spread to his brain.
Da Silva recently posted on YouCaring.com:
“A little over three weeks ago i recieved some very bad news. I was diagnosed with lung cancer that has spread to my brain. This has been the hardest thing I've ever had to deal with my whole life and I'm still in shock. How life as you know it can change so fast, in the blink of an eye. I was in the hospital for almost three weeks and I'm being strong and staying positive. So far I've had ten radiation treatments on my brain and my first round of chemotherapy. Im all alone here in this country my family is all in Brazil, so my friends are my family and I have to swallow my pride, because I really need your help. I have a long hard fight ahead and I'm not able to work, so any donations you can give I will appreciate so so much, and if anything were to happen to me, I want any money left over to go to help other people in my situation. If you would, please pass this message on to everyone you can because I'm going to need everybody's help. I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for all your thoughts and prayers, it makes me feel so good to know I have friends that care so much. God Bless You All, Love Silvio”
