Longtime LGBT activist Cindy Brown was honored Saturday, June 13, by the Miami-Dade Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce at its Sapphire Gala as 2015 AT&T Business Person of the Year.

Brown, founding director of Miami Beach Gay Pride, last year served as executive director of the Miami Beach Botanical Garden. She recently joined Equality Florida as its Miami-Dade County development director.

Other 2015 Chamber honorees: Miami Beach Mayor Philip Levine (Morgan Stanley Bob Balsam Civic Achievement Award), Decobike (Business of the Year) and the Adrienne Arsht Center (Regions Bank Non-Profit of the Year).

The dinner was held at 1 Hotel & Homes South Beach.
