Lucy lookalikes and the Miami Gay Men’s Chorus on Friday celebrated 1950s comedy icons Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz, in anticipation of the arrival Sept. 30 of I Love Lucy Live On Stage at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts.
While guests sipped Mojitos, chorus members dressed as Ricky Ricardo performed songs from their own repertoire along with musical numbers featured on I Love Lucy.
Lucy Ricardo lookalikes competed for prizes including I Love Lucy Live tickets and a pin-up style photo shoot by Terribly Girly Photography’s Janette Valentine. Jan, contestant No. 1, took the honors of looking most like Lucy. Judges were local fashion experts Gino R. Campodonico of The MANnequin Party, Kalyn James from Fashion Style Miami, and Annie Vasquez of TheFashionPoet.com.
The gay men’s chorus also serenaded Campodonico, who celebrated his birthday on Friday. “Oh my God,” he shouted.
