The 17th annual Miami Gay and Lesbian Film Festival opened Friday night at the Colony Theater on Lincoln Road and unveiled its new name, MiFo —which officially ties the separately held Miami and Fort Lauderdale festivals.

The festival screened Boulevard, starring Robin Williams in his final dramatic role. Williams' co-star, Roberto Aguire, attended the screening and answered questions afterward.
The festival runs through May 2 with screenings at the Miami Beach Cinematheque, 1130 Washington Ave.; Regal Cinemas South Beach, 1100 Lincoln Rd.; and the Gleason Room Back Stage At The Fillmore Miami Beach, 1700 Washington Ave.
