The rainbow flag has been raised over Miami Beach City Hall, harking the arrival of the 2015 Miami Beach Gay Pride Festival.

Pride committee members gathered 6 p.m. Monday outside City Hall, where Cabaret South Beach star EnVee sang the National Anthem.

Speakers included Miami Beach Commissioner Michael Grieco and Alex Radick, a 16-year-old sophomore at Miami Beach Senior High School, who read a short history and purpose of the rainbow flag.

As the flag was raised, Cabaret South Beach singer/pianist Victor Valdez performed Over the Rainbow.

Miami Beach Gay Pride runs through April 12, culminating with a parade on Ocean Drive expected to draw 100,000 people. Actor/TV personality Mario Lopez will be grand marshal.
