Along with its new date — Feb. 18, 2018 — Gay8 Festival on Monday released an updated trailer for the third annual LGBTQ party on Calle Ocho.
Gay8, a free street festival to celebrate LGBTQ art, music and culture on Southwest Eighth Street between Southwest 14th and 17th avenues, began in 2016. Thousands attended that year, and even more people turned out in January 2017, organizers said.
On Aug. 8, Gay8 founders announced they were canceling the 2018 festival because the city of Miami had given their presumed date during Martin Luther King Jr. Weekend to the Three Kings Parade. Two days later, Gay8 was un-canceled when Miami offered to move the festival to President’s Day Weekend in February.

Gay8 co-founder Damian Pardo said he was “thrilled” to move the festival to February. President’s Day Weekend was the date he and co-founder Joe Cardona had originally sought for its first festival in 2015, but they were told no because its the same weekend as Coconut Grove Art Festival and Miami International Boat Show.
