Deputies arrested a Marathon man they say stole his girlfriend’s truck and cash she kept in a plastic water bottle.
Monroe sheriff’s deputies began investigating Saturday after 46-year-old Rodger Doyle Green’s girlfriend reported her 2006 GMC truck missing. She told police Green had asked to borrow the truck Saturday evening, but she refused since his license was suspended, police said. When she got home, the truck was gone from her house and a large 5-gallon plastic water bottle that held cash was also missing.
She drove around town and saw him driving the truck, police said. Surveillance video also showed Green walking out of his girlfriend’s house carrying something and leaving the house driving the truck.
At about 11 p.m., a deputy saw the truck driving north on the Overseas Highway. Green, who was driving the truck, still had a suspended license, police said, and had a large plastic jar of cash in the back seat of the truck.
