Police are looking for a man who robbed a 19-year-old woman at gunpoint. They have some help: A neighbor filmed the entire robbery on his cell phone.

The incident began at about 5:20 p.m. Wednesday. Police say Maria Cruz was walking home near 6800 SW 16th Court in North Lauderdale when a man began following her. Cruz’s neighbor, Keith Bankston, who has a background in law enforcement, became suspicious about how the man was approaching Cruz. He then began to shoot a video from his cell phone from the side mirror of his parked car.

Within seconds, the video shows the man pulling a revolver from his waistband and placing it on the left side of Cruz’s neck, almost pushing her off the sidewalk. He takes her brown schoolbag and her LG G Stylo cell phone before running in the opposite direction.

Bankston then opens his car door to speak with Cruz.

“You know that guy?” Bankston asks in the video.

When asked if the man had robbed her, Cruz says yes. She didn’t know who the man was.

Police say the man is about 5’10” tall and was last seen in a gold-colored Saturn. He was wearing a black hoodie, a white T-shirt, red basketball shorts, black socks and black and white slippers.
