A prisoner on psychiatric hold jumped the fence and escaped a state hospital on Saturday afternoon, police said.
Leandro Guimaraes, 32, was under a court-ordered psychiatric hold at South Florida State Hospital, located at 800 E. Cypress Dr., Pembroke Pines police said.
Guimaraes leapt over a fence on the west side of the hospital grounds around 5 p.m. Police said he suffers from schizophrenia and has a “violent history” and a criminal record that includes arrests for burglary and robbery.
Guimaraes, who is 5 feet, 9 inches tall and weighs 180 pounds, was last seen wearing gray pants, a green sweatshirt and a green-and-white University of Miami hat.

Police said to call 911 and use caution if someone spots Guimaraes.
