A Fort Lauderdale boat crash involving two vessels has left one person injured.
Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission responded Saturday night and the person was taken to a local hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
It is unclear what caused the collision. FWC is leading the investigation.
On this Martin Luther King Day holiday weekend, South Florida’s waterways are expected to be crowded Sunday and Monday, especially with perfect weather.
Last year, holidays have proven dangerous for South Florida boaters. A July 4 holiday boat crash turned fatal when four people were killed. Then on Columbus Day weekend, a crash killed one woman and injured two others.
In response to the July 4 crash, a multi-agency task force was created to prevent more holiday weekend boating accidents. Local, state, county and municipal law enforcement agencies all vowed to crack down on drunken boaters.
