Woman dies after being hit by a car in Fort Lauderdale, police say

A woman was killed on Monday night after being hit by a car in Fort Lauderdale, according to police.

At around 8:30 p.m., police say a woman was struck by a car in the 1700 block of North Federal Highway. Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue took her to Broward General Hospital, giving her whole blood on the way. She died after reaching the hospital, police say.

The driver who struck her remained on scene, police say. The Fort Lauderdale Traffic Homicide unit is investigating.
