A man remains in critical condition after he was stabbed outside a Publix supermarket Wednesday night in Fort Lauderdale, and police say a suspect has been jailed for it.

Officers responded to the 1900 block of Cordova Road around 8:10 p.m. and found the wounded man in a parking lot, according to Fort Lauderdale Police spokeswoman Casey Liening. Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue took him to Broward Health Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

On Friday, police announced they had identified Perry Andrown, 40, in connection with the stabbing. Preliminary information indicated that Andrown fled the scene on a bicycle, which officers later found nearby. He was located soon after and taken into custody.

Initially charged with possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, Andrown was later charged with attempted murder following further investigation by detectives.

Police say the victim remains hospitalized as of Friday afternoon.

Jail records show that Andrown remains locked up at the Broward Main Jail Bureau on no bond as of Friday afternoon.
