A brush fire burned in Southwest Ranches throughout Friday afternoon and early evening.
There were no residences threatened, according to Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue Public Information Officer Mike Jachles, who placed the blaze off the southeast corner of Griffin Road and U.S. 27. The area did contain a nursery, however.
Florida Forest Service took the lead in fighting the fire with assistance from BSFD, Davie Fire Rescue and Southwest Ranches Volunteer Fire Rescue.
Jachles also reminded folks “it’s best to leave fireworks to professionals” after BFSD treated eye injuries and burns on a man shooting off bottle rockets Friday. The burn victim eschewed a ride to the emergency room, but his family told BFSD they would take him.
