A Florida city is closing a traffic lane so pedestrians have more social distancing space

Has social distancing been a problem while taking a walk or jog because there are too many people on the sidewalk?

Hallandale Beach has come up with a solution.

Beginning at 2 p.m. Friday, the city will shut a northbound lane of AIA to vehicles. The closure will last through the weekend and be done every weekend until further notice. Southbound traffic will not be affected by the closure.

The closure, the city says, will give pedestrians more room to stay six feet away from another person. to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus

“You asked and we listened,” the city said in a statement.

The city is telling pedestrians to be “extra cautious in the area” and warning drivers to “travel slowly through the area, expect delays, and seek alternate routes.”
