A driver lost control of his SUV Monday evening and plowed through the side of a plant store in Fort Lauderdale, shattering the glass, cracking the concrete and leaving the building structurally unsafe.
The accident happened about 6 p.m. at The Plant Boat, 1130 S. Federal Hwy.
The northbound lanes of the busy road were shut as crews shored up the building and figured out how to get the white Ford Explorer out of the store, which was not open at the time of the accident. The road reopened just after 10:30 p.m.
The driver, a man wearing a red shirt, jeans and flip flops, stood by and spoke to police.
