A bomb squad investigation stalled activity at Port Everglades Terminal 29 for more than two hours Sunday, according to Broward Sheriff’s Office.
Royal Caribbean’s Freedom of the Seas had just arrived after a nine-day, eight-night cruise Sunday morning when a bomb-sniffing dog from a private security company thought he smelled something amiss in what was on a pallet on the ship. Passengers were evacuated, and Terminal 29 was put on lockdown while BSO’s bomb squad checked the pallet.
Nothing suspicious was found. All returned to normal at 12:39 p.m., about two hours, 25 minutes after the dog reacted.
