A Vero Beach man, the lead suspect in his wife’s murder Sunday, shot himself to death Monday while parked in Sunrise’s Sawgrass Mills area.
Indian River Sheriff’s Office confirmed the man found Monday dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound was Pedro Torres. IRSO had been looking for Torres since Sunday morning. They found Torres’ wife, 45-year-old Vicky Torres, dead in her home at 7:45 a.m and believed Pedro Torres killed her before heading toward Broward County.
Around 9:30 a.m. Monday, Sunrise police swarmed the parking lot next to the Sawgrass Mills area Rooms To Go at 1905 Flamingo Rd., as they surrounded a minivan matching the description of Pedro Torres’ car. About two hours later, police found Torres dead inside the minivan.
Pedro and Vicky Torres had three children. In the comments on the IRSO’s Facebook post, several people claimed to witness a violent side to Pedro Torres, including whipping a young daughter with his belt in a schoolyard.
