Coral Springs boy, 17, found dead on residential street

A 17-year-old boy from Coral Springs was found dead on the street in a residential area Tuesday night, police said.

Officers found Santiago Agudelo, a J.P. Taravella High School student, in the road in the 400 block of Shadow Wood Lane at 10:56 p.m., police said.

The neighborhood is a few blocks southeast of the intersection of North University Drive and West Atlantic Boulevard.

The Broward Medical Examiner's Office on Wednesday was trying to determine the teen's cause of death.

Police declined to release additional details, or to describe the state in which Agudelo's body was found, Wednesday night. That information was not being made public immediately because of the sensitive nature of the investigation, said police Lt. Joe McHugh.

Coral Springs police ask anyone with information to contact Detective Chris Collins at 954-346-1262.

Staff writers Dave Brousseau and Sofia Santana and staff researcher Barbara Hijek contributed to this report.
