Two rollover crashes in Broward County tied up the morning commute Tuesday morning, after two lanes on I-595 were shut down near Hiatus Road and Sample Road was closed in both directions near Florida’s Turnpike.
Officers closed Sample Road Tuesday morning after a truck flipped over and spilled debris over the median and both sides of the road.
Drivers were redirected from the crash site and told to use Copans Road in either direction instead.
A small pickup truck also crashed earlier Tuesday morning after rolling over on Interstate 595, killing the driver and injuring his two passengers, authorities said.

Jairo Bernabe Diaz Mendez, 36, of Fort Lauderdale, was driving his 1998 Mazda truck westbound on I-595 when the right rear tire tread separated from the rest of the wheel and caused the vehicle to lose control, according to a Florida Highway Patrol press release. The car swerved to the right and struck the concrete barrier before flipping over.
Officers responded to the scene of the single vehicle crash near Hiatus Road around 6:10 a.m., spokesman Sgt. Mark Wysocky said. Mendez died in the crash, and the two passengers in the truck were taken to Broward Health with minor injuries, he said.
FHP blocked off two lanes on the westbound side as it conducted a crash investigation, which closed two westbound lanes out of four on that side of the highway.
The lanes were expected to remain closed off through the morning rush hour, Wysocky said.
