Hollywood armed robber takes a pipe to a fist fight and winds up retreating

Hollywood police are searching for an armed robber who found no luck when he tried to hit the Shamrock Gas Station last month.

The short, chunky black male, estimated at 5-5, 175, rolled into the gas station at 5600 Washington Street with a knock off Atlanta Braves hat and a pipe on Oct. 14. He swung at the clerk with the latter several times from behind as the clerk returned to the store’s secure booth.

No Giancarlo Stanton he with the pipe, the criminal failed to subdue the clerk with that salvo, so he threw in a few punches for good measure. When a swinging pipe couldn’t take the fight out of a man, swinging fists don’t have much of a chance. The clerk not only fought back, but managed to take the pipe from the bad guy.

At this point, the want-to-be thug retreated.

Police are asking anyone with tips on this to call Hollywood police at 954-967-4611 or e-mail
