A parishioner of a Little Haiti church was killed Sunday morning when an SUV and a taxi collided.
Baliston Elidor, his wife and his mother-in-law were in the taxi cab when the accident happened around 8:15 a.m. at the intersection of 159th Street and North Miami Avenue. Elidor’s mother-in-law, who was sitting in the back of the taxi, died. Elidor and another person were taken to the hospital.

The collision crushed the front of the SUV, pushing up the hood and smashing the wheels into an angle but leaving the rest of the car mostly undamaged. The front of the Yellow Cab taxi wasn’t damaged, but a yellow tarp covered the side and back of the vehicle.

A spray of debris covered the road as officials walked around the scene.
