Thank you for Laurie Futterman’s April 9 article in Neighbors.
She is absolutely correct to want to include the “A” for Arts in the Science Technology Engineering Math (STEM) programs. The answer is already here in Miami-Dade County’s Community High Schools. Under the direction of Palmetto Senior High school’s principal, Dr. Allison Harley, and with the support of the school district, Palmetto offers 30 Advanced Placement classes and other courses broadly covering the sciences and the arts. Palmetto is already STEAMING ahead with offering excellence in our backyard. Other schools should follow our lead!
