Patients at a 24-hour kidney Cutler Ridge dialysis center were forced to evacuate early Thursday after a water pipe burst overnight Thursday, flooding the parking lot and some businesses at a strip mall

Miami-Dade County water and sewer officials say the break was due to natural wear and tear on the 12-inch pipe and expect to have it repaired by early afternoon. By early morning, water had gushed into the mall parking lot at U.S. 1 and Southwest 189th Street, flooding some businesses. Water service in the area was shut off while crews repair the line. Once service returns, customers will need to boil their water, said Miami-Dade County Water and Sewer Department spokeswoman Adriana Lamar.
