South Florida

Shumsky elected chair of Miami’s New World Symphony

Long-time board member Edward Manno Shumsky has been elected chairman of the board of the New World Symphony, the national training orchestra led by Michael Tilson Thomas. He succeeds Rose Ellen Meyerhoff Greene, who served as board chair from 2012 to the present.

He and wife Susan D. Kronick, retired vice chairman of Federated department stores, keep a busy cultural playlist: Kronick serves as chair of the Miami City Ballet. Shumsky, a retired lawyer, has served in executive positions in several companies, most recently Florida East Coast Industries.
