The Coast Guard was searching Monday for a Delray Beach woman who went missing after her catamaran capsized in the Florida Straits, about 30 miles west of Cay Sal, Bahamas.
Isabella Hellman was last seen aboard the 37-foot catamaran, Surf into Summer, about 8 p.m. Sunday.
According to the Coast Guard, watch standers received an alert at about 1:30 a.m. from the catamaran. At the same time, the boat’s owner, Lewis Bennett, reported the vessel was taking on water after hitting an unknown object.
Bennett said he was abandoning the boat as it took on water. He notified the Coast Guard that his wife was missing, the Coast Guard said in a news release.
