A Carnival Cruise ship headed to Jamaica will be skipping its stop in Grand Cayman after a passenger suffered a medical emergency, causing the ship to return to PortMiami early Sunday.

The Carnival Sensation was on its way to Ocho Rios when an unidentified passenger suffered “a severe medical condition,” officials said.

According to Carnival, a Miami-Dade Fire Rescue vessel picked up the passenger and took the guest to a nearby hospital.

The Sensation is expected to return to PortMiami on Thursday as scheduled and is offering its passengers a 20 percent discount on a future cruise.
