ACCOUNTANTS

Andrew C. Bernstein has joined EisnerAmper as a managing director in its forensic, litigation and valuation services practice. He will work from the firm’s Miami and Fort Lauderdale offices. Previously, he was director of the forensic and valuation services for Berkowitz Pollack Brant. Bernstein, a CPA/CFF, CVA, is a University of Florida graduate.

CONSTRUCTION

Brian Eaton and Joe Fernandez have each been named vice president of operations at Suffolk Construction and will be based in Miami. Eaton has has been with Suffolk for nearly two years, serving as the project executive for the Brightline’s MiamiCentral Station. He has a bachelor’s degree in construction management from Central Connecticut University. Fernandez joins Suffolk from MCM (Munilla Construction Management). Fernandez, a former Navy SEAL, has a bachelor’s in construction management from Florida International University.

EDUCATION

At the College of Management of Johnson & Wales University:

▪ Chance Ates has been named the college chair of the School of Hospitality. He previously was dean of the international hospitality management program at Stratford University’s School of Hospitality & Culinary Arts in Falls Church, Virginia. Ates also is a former general manager of Marriott in Lubbock, Texas, and founder of Potato Factory LLC, which is now a franchise. Ates, who has a bachelor’s from West Texas A&M, has a master’s in restaurant, hotel and institutional management, and a doctorate in educational psychology, from Texas Tech.

▪ Sherry Andre has been promoted to college chair of the School of Business. She most recently was the lead faculty for the sports/entertainment/event management program. Andre has a master’s in general management from St. Thomas University and a doctorate in educational leadership from Florida Atlantic University.

ARCHITECTURE/ HEALTHCARE

Deborah A. Franqui has joined LEO A DALY Miami as senior project manager and market sector leader for healthcare and will be based in Miami. She previously was with AHEAD Architecture + Health Design Consultants. Franqui will also continue as a professor and coordinator of healthcare design programs at the University of Miami School of Architecture. She has a bachelor’s in architecture from Cornell and a master’s (architecture and health) and a Ph.D. (built environment and health) from Clemson.

FINANCIAL SERVICES

Christopher Facka has been named managing director of the Florida-East region of GenSpring Family Offices. Facka, who will be based in Jupiter, will serve South Florida, including Palm Beach and Miami. He previously was a senior wealth advisor at BNY Mellon. Facka has a bachelor’s from Harvard and an MBA from DePaul.

HEALTHCARE

Vianca Larice has been named director of marketing at Aventura Hospital and Medical Center, a facility of HCA East Florida. Previously, she was director, strategic planning, innovation and research, at United HomeCare. Larice has a bachelor’s in psychology from Florida International University and a master’s of public health from the University of Miami.

LAW

Steven L. Scharf has rejoined Kelley Kronenberg as a partner. Joining him is Shaghayegh (Shaggy) Nowroozpour, as an attorney. The two previously were at Marcos Rothman Scharf Valdes Goldstein and handle matters involving first-party insurance defense and workers’ compensation. Scharf has a bachelor’s in political science from Tulane. Nowroozpour has a bachelor’s in biology from UM. Both have J.D.’s from Nova Southeastern University.

NONPROFITS

Vicki Roitman has been named chief operating officer at Mandel JCC of the Palm Beaches. Most recently, she was associate executive director of the Miami Beach Jewish Community Center. Roitman has a bachelor’s in education from Central Michigan University.

New job: Vice president and banking lender at TotalBank.

Previous: She was vice president and business banker for BankUnited.

Also: She has been vice president and business relationship manager for JP Morgan Chase, where she was a President’s Club winner in the Southeast Division. Perdomo is registered with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and a member of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and Aventura/Sunny Isles Beach Chamber of Commerce.
