Howard Rosenbloom, CPA, MBA, RIA, has merged his accounting and tax practice with the firm of Jacobs, Nones, & Carney, CPAs. The firm is based in South Miami with over 15 professionals and will provide tax, accounting, and consulting services under the new name.

Luis A. Aponte has been named director of training and organizational development for Power Financial Credit Union, based in Pembroke Pines. Previously, he was vice president and director of training and development for City National Bank. Aponte has a bachelor’s degree in communication and organizational leadership from Trinity International University-South Florida Campus.
Benigno Pazos has joined U.S. Century Bank, and will, if approved by federal and state regulatory authorities, be chief credit officer. Previously, he was the chief credit officer at TotalBank. Pazos, a CPA,
Emilio Ortega has been named vice president of ACM Capital Partners, based in Miami. Previously, he was the director of accounting at Assurant. Ortega, a CPA, has a bachelor’s and a master’s in accounting from Florida International University.
Jessica Miller-Hijar has been promoted to chief nursing officer from assistant chief nursing officer at Coral Gables Hospital. She received her bachelor’s in nursing from FIU.
David M. Buckner and Seth E. Miles have formed Miami-based Buckner + Miles. The firm will draw on the founders’ experience in the areas of catastrophic personal injury, class action, medical malpractice, aviation and qui tam litigation. Previously, both were partners at Grossman Roth. Buckner, a former assistant U.S. attorney, represents corporations and individuals in matters involving complex commercial and class action litigation, securities and other frauds, business torts, antitrust law, white collar crime, personal injury, products liability, aviation accidents and qui tam. He has a bachelor’s from Rutgers; and a J.D., and a master’s of public policy, from Harvard. Miles, also a former assistant U.S. attorney, focuses his practice on personal injury, wrongful death, medical malpractice, maritime, class action, commercial tort and qui tam cases. He has a bachelor’s from Northwestern and a J.D. from Georgetown.
Marcos Puente will join the Miami office of Colliers International South Florida as a VP of retail investment sales. Previously, he worked with Marcus & Millichap’s Miami office. Puente has a finance degree from FIU.
Eduardo Pruna has been named sales director, and Crescendo Real Estate as the sales agency of record, for Bijou Bay Harbor’s new waterfront development in Bay Harbor Islands. Before joining the Bijou team, Ramirez was vice president of sales and marketing for Miami developer Terra Group.

Name: Juan Gomez
New position: Director of administration for the Miami hub of American Airlines. Based in Miami, he will manage budgeting, financial planning and administration for the hub.
Previously: Gomez was responsible for airport affairs for Latin America and the Caribbean, based in Fort Worth, Texas. He has held several other positions, including management roles in finance and operations in several countries in Latin America, since joining the company in 2001.
Education: Gomez has a bachelor’s degree from CESA in Bogota, Colombia, in business administration and finance; an MBA from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University; and a post-MBA from INCAE in San Jose, Costa Rica. He is also a licensed commercial pilot.
