Diana Rivera, CPA, CGMA, has been promoted to director from senior manager in the audit department of MBAF in the Kane Condominium and Association Services Division.

Lazaro Gutierrez, CPA, has been promoted to director in the audit department of MBAF. Gutierrez previously was a senior manager at the firm and is based in MBAF’s Fort Lauderdale office.

BANKING

Alfonso Baigorri has been named a senior wealth advisor and managing director at J.P. Morgan Private Bank. He has a bachelor’s from Boston University, a J.D. from the Universidad Interamericana and an LLM in estate planning from the University of Miami.

ADVERTISING

Nichole Robillard has been named SVP/group account director and Nicole Gallardo has been named digital creative director at Zimmerman, based in Fort Lauderdale. Previously, Robillard was account director and activation lead at RP3 Agency. Gallardo was previously at Norwegian Cruise Line, where she was creative director/user experience design lead.

EDUCATION

Sheela VanHoose has been named director of government affairs and public police at Charter Schools USA (CSUSA). Previously, she was director of legislative affairs for Broward County Public Schools. Prior to that, she was director of scheduling for Gov. Rick Scott in Tallahassee and special assistant to the governor in South Florida. She also was an aide in the U.S. Senate under Sen. George LeMieux. In 2014, Scott appointed VanHoose to the North Broward Hospital District Board of Commissioners. VanHoose has a bachelor’s degree in English from Nova Southeastern University and is a candidate for a master’s in public administration from Florida Atlantic University.

FINANCIAL SERVICES

Arturo Pedroso has been named vice president and wealth advisor in the Miami office of Bessemer Trust. Previously, he was a banker at J.P. Morgan Private Bank. Pedroso has a bachelor’s in marketing from George Washington University and is an MBA candidate at Northwestern University.

LAW

David Markarian has been named managing partner of Markarian Frank White-Boyd & Hayes in Wellingon. He is former corporate counsel and vice president of government and regulatory affairs of NextEra Energy/Florida Power & Light. Markarian has a bachelor’s degree from Florida State University and a law degree from the University of Miami.

Louis J. Terminello will be a shareholder and co-chair of Greenspoon Marder’s recently started Alcohol Beverage Group, and he will be based in the firm’s Miami office. He previously was managing director of Terminello & Terminello, P.A. Terminello has a law degree from the University of Miami.

Name: Casey J. Crist

New position: Assistant vice president, relationship manager in small business lending at TD Bank, based in Coral Gables.

From: Credit analyst

And: Crist joined TD Bank in 2011 as part of the bank’s summer internship program and completed a 10-week credit analyst training program upon joining TD full time as a credit analyst. She also recently completed the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Miami program.

Education: Crist received a bachelor’s in international finance and marketing from the University of Miami in 2011. She also received her MBA from the University of Miami in 2012; she was valedictorian of her class.

Best advice: The best advice I ever received: ‘Take control of your own career. Nobody is going to be more invested in developing your career than you are, and the best way to pave your career path is to network, engage mentors and begin to do the job you wish to pursue.’

And to go along with that… ‘When someone believes there is something you can’t do, do everything in your power to prove him/her wrong.’
