Josh Bass has been promoted to vice president of customer services for JM&A Group, based in Deerfield Beach. JM&A provides finance and insurance products in the automotive industry. He has a bachelor’s degree in industrial and systems engineering, and an MBA, from the University of Florida.


Brian Matijevic has joined U.S. Century Bank as assistant vice president, treasury officer. Before he was officer, treasury sales for Wells Fargo Bank. He has a degree in international business and business administration from Florida International University.

Val Perez has been promoted to market president of retail for South Florida at TD Bank. Most recently he was regional vice president in Palm Beach County. He’ll have offices in Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach.


Poonam Vaidya has launched Maxim Valuations in Fort Lauderdale. Before she was at Marcum. Vaidya has a master’s degree in finance from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and she has several undergraduate and graduate degrees from universities in India. .


Wolfgang Wehen has been named general manager at the Newport Beachside Hotel & Resort by the Newport Group. Before, he was hotel manager at the W South Beach.


Howard Talenfeld has launched Talenfeld Law, based in Plantation. Before he was a shareholder at Colodny, Fass, Talenfeld, Karlinsky, Abate, & Webb. Talenfeld, a children’s rights attorney, is a founder and president of the advocacy group Florida’s Children First. He has a his bachelor’s degree in business administration and a law degree from the University of Miami School.

Ethan Wall has launched Social Media Law and Order, a company created to deliver presentations, seminars, webinars and educational resources on subjects relating to social media and the law. Before Wall was at Richman Greer. He was recently president of the Dade County Bar Assocation Young Lawyers Section.


Jennifer Widener has been named vice president, regional investments-Florida at IDI Gazeley. She will be based in Fort Lauderdale. Before, she was vice president, director of acquisitions at the company, based in Atlanta. The company is a global investor and developer of logistics warehouses and distribution parks.


Wally Sabria, has been promoted at The Axis Agency to executive vice president of digital and social media. Before, he was head of the agency’s Miami office. He has a degree in communications from Florida International University.


Ann Henderson has been named deputy director for external affairs at Vizcaya Museum and Gardens. She will oversee the advancement staff, which among other things is responsible for Vizcaya’s fundraising. Before she was president of Fuse Strategy. She has a bachelor’s degree in history from Vassar, a master’s degree in teaching from the University of New Hampshire and a doctorate in American civilization from George Washington University.

Name: Ranjini Chandirakanthan

New job: Director at Cassel Salpeter & Co. She’ll lead the firm’s technology practice.

Previously: Director of strategy at Dell.

Also: Chandirakanthan was a senior director of corporate development at Sun Microsystems. She also has worked at Lehman Brothers, ThinkEquity and Neoteris, a startup. She began her career as a CPA at KPMG Peat Marwick.

Education: Chandirakanthan has a bachelor’s degree in accountancy from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and an MBA from the University of Chicago.

Best advice: In business school, the head of a large, acquisitive company shared that he always negotiated acquisition deals on the shop floor because that is where the CEO is most comfortable. That has been my experience. Negotiations are best in person at the other party’s office.
