ACCOUNTING

John Hofmann has been named partner at Kabat, Schertzer, De La Torre, Taraboulos & Company (KSDT). The firm has merged in JL Hofmann & Associates, based in Coral Gables, which Hofmann founded in 1990. He has a master’s in taxation from Florida International University and a bachelor’s in accounting from the University of Florida.

Jennifer Newton has been named director of consumer financial services compliance at Kaufman Rossin. She is a former financial services regulator at the U.S. Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and will oversee the firm’s growing consumer financial services compliance practice. Newton is an adjunct professor of law at Nova Southeastern University. She has a bachelor’s in sociology and interdisciplinary social science from Florida State University and a J.D. from Loyola University.

CONSTRUCTION

Patrick Murphy has rejoined Coastal Construction Group in Miami. He was previously a vice president for Coastal before serving in U.S. Congress, representing Florida’s 18th congressional district from 2013-2017 and was a nominee for the U.S. Senate. Murphy, a CPA, has a bachelor’s in business administration from the University of Miami.

HEALTHCARE

Roberto Robledo has been named chief operating officer of Genuine Health Group. He previously was chief financial officer for MSO Puerto Rico, a subsidiary of InnovaCare Health.

LAW

Kerry A. Zinn has joined Bressler, Amery & Ross, P.C. as a Principal focusing on financial crime compliance counseling and investigations and enforcement actions by government and self-regulatory organization regulators. She will be based in Fort Lauderdale. Zinn previously was at UBS AG, most recently as regional counsel for UBS Financial Crime Compliance Americas. Before joining UBS, Zinn was one of the lead trial attorneys in the Miami office of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Zinn has a bachelor’s from the University of Michigan and a J.D. from the University of Miami.

REAL ESTATE

Laura J. Goetz has been named vice president of property management of Grover Corlew, a real estate investment group in Pompano Beach. She was previously a district property manager for Stiles Property Management in Fort Lauderdale. Goetz has a bachelor’s in management from Florida Atlantic University.

Name: Ryan Nunes

New position: Executive vice president of the Broward and Palm Beach offices of JLL.

From: CBRE. Nunes was vice president for five years, focusing on providing tenant advisory services in South Florida. Hes has worked with businesses ranging from Fortune 500 Companies to early-stage enterprises.

Also: He will be a member of JLL’s South Florida Leadership Council. Before CBRE, he worked for Studley in Washington, D.C., for seven years.

Education: Nunes has a bachelor’s in sociology from the University of Pennsylvania.

Best advice: There will always be ups and downs in life, but if you surround yourself with good people, the ups will always outweigh the downs.
