HEALTHCARE

At Broward Health:

▪ Alice Taylor has been named chief executive officer of Broward Health North. For the past five years, Taylor has been CEO at Broward Health Imperial Point. Taylor has a bachelor’s in nursing from Holy Family College in Philadelphia, and a master’s in nursing and an MBA from Widener University in Pennsylvania.

▪ Sandra J. Todd-Atkinson has been named chief executive officer of Broward Health Medical Center. She most recently was COO of Broward Health Medical Center and Salah Foundation Children’s Hospital. She has a bachelor’s in nursing from Barton College and an MBA from Meredith College, both in North Carolina; and a doctorate in education (gerontology) from North Carolina State University.

HOSPITALITY

At W South Beach:

▪ Dean Peters has been named director of sales and marketing. Most recently, he was area sales leader for 15 Marriott managed properties in Miami and Marco Island.

▪ Christine Judson has been named director of group sales. Most recently, she was senior sales manager for The Ritz-Carlton, South Beach and Ritz-Carlton Bal Harbour.

Insurance

Karen Cordero-Fleites has been named director of marketing and communications at Premier Assurance Group (PA Group), based in Coral Gables. She was previously the senior marketing manager of Global Benefits Group Inc. Cordero-Fleites has a bachelor’s in business administration, marketing, from Keiser University.

SOCIAL/CIVIC

Timothy Schmand has been named executive director of the Lincoln Road Business Improvement District. He most recently was interim executive director of the Coconut Grove Business Improvement District. Schmand is a graduate of SUNY-Buffalo and has an MFA from Vermont College.

Spencer Pylant will join the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce as director of government affairs. He most recently was communications and government relations liaison for Pasco County Schools. Pylant received bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Florida.

LAW

Stephanie A. Casey has been named partner at Colson Hicks Eidson, based in Coral Gables. She was previously judicial clerk for United States District Judge Marcia G. Cooke. Casey practices in the areas of commercial litigation, personal injury, and class action litigation. She has a bachelor’s in political science from Boston College and a law degree from American University.

Name: Jose Gonzalez

New position: Chief financial officer of Monument Capital Management. He will be based in Miami.

About the company: It is an A-Rod CORP company and a fully integrated real estate investment firm.

From: Gonzalez was director of accounting and portfolio management at Rialto Capital Management, a fully-owned subsidiary of Lennar.

Also: At Lennar, he designed and implemented accounting, IT and reporting processes and procedures. Previous to that, he was chief financial officer at Riverwalk Development, where he oversaw the management of all investments including hospitality and commercial and residential real estate.

Education: Gonzalez, a CPA, has a bachelor’s of business administration from the University of Miami.

Best advice: There are two philosophies I have always lived by: 1. Seek first to understand! 2. I will let you fall; but I will never let you fail.
