More than 8,600 individuals made 11,000 visits to the inaugural Maison&Objet Americas — almost double what organizers had expected for the trade show that ran May 12-15, organizers reported this week. Exhibitors including Miami’s Fine Art Lamps reported strong response.

“It was a remarkable fair,” reported the Miami-based firm Britto Charette via a release. “Within hours of the opening we had sales and serious leads that already recouped the costs of participating.”

It was the first U.S. event for the 20-year-old Paris-based show, which also has an annual event in Singapore. The Miami Beach show featured 350 exhibitors from 24 countries. Visitors came from 82 countries, with 70 percent from the U.S., 15 percent from Latin America and 29 percent international. Speakers included design stars Karim Rashid, David rockwell, Piero Lissoni and George Yabu. The fair returns May 10-13, 2016.
