A Florida man has been swallowed by a sinkhole that opened under his bedroom, according to CNN.
The 36-year-old man vanished Thursday night under his home after his brother tried to rescue him from going under, the network reported. Authorities said the hole is about 100 feet wide and getting bigger.
"When he got there, there was no bedroom left," Hillsborough County Fire Rescue spokeswoman Jessica Damico told The Associated Press. "There was no furniture. All he saw was a piece of the mattress sticking up."
Hillsborough County authorities told the Tampa Bay Times that the Seffner home has become too unstable for continued rescue efforts on Friday morning. Rescuers said there are no signs of life and that rescue efforts will now turn to recovery.
