Creditrepair.com’s services
Here’s the breakdown of Creditrepair.com’s three-step process, service limitations, and pricing options.
What it offers
Creditrepair.com provides credit repair services — shocking, I know. More specifically, the company works with you to challenge the accuracy of items on your credit report and provides education on how to work on the key items to work to obtain and keep healthy credit reports. Here’s how its three-step credit repair process works:
Step 1: Check your credit reports and scores
When you sign up, the company checks your credit score and your TransUnion credit report. Then, you review your credit report summary, identify what you’d like to challenge, and Creditrepair.com comes up with a game plan.
Step 2: Challenge questionable items
According to the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), all of the information on your credit reports must be accurate, relevant, fair, substantiated, and verifiable.
If you want to challenge anything, CreditRepair.com will contact the credit reporting agencies on your behalf in what’s known as a “bureau challenge.” Alternatively, they may contact the creditors directly in what’s known as a “creditor intervention.” If the items warrant removal, Creditrepair.com will also follow up to ensure they actually get removed.
Additionally, the company may use other strategies including inquiry assists, goodwill interventions, and cease-and-desist interventions.
Step 3: Change your scores
As negative items are removed, your score may increase. CreditRepair.com provides various tools to help you track the changes, including TransUnion credit monitoring and analysis, a personal online dashboard, mobile apps, and text and email alerts.
What it doesn’t offer
While CreditRepair.com aims to help you repair bad credit scores and clear derogatory marks from your credit reports, it can’t make any promises. The ability to successful work toward inaccurate items being removed from credit reports hinges on the credit bureaus and the debt owners. To help compensate for the uncertainty, some credit repair agencies offer a money-back guarantee for a certain period. Creditrepair.com does not.
Neither Creditrepair.com nor any other legitimate credit repair service will have much success with removing negative but accurate items from your credit report.
Further, your ability to get credit repair services will depend on your credit situation. If you have good credit (without any negative marks), the company may refer you to another company (Credit.com) for free credit monitoring instead.
Creditrepair.com’s cost
Creditrepair.com offers a free credit repair consultation. Through it, you can get your credit score, a summary of your negative items, and a collection of recommended credit solutions.
If you decide to move forward, you’ll be required to pay a first-work fee and monthly service fee. The cost of both fees fee will depend on which of the following plans you choose:
- The Think Credit Plan: For a one-time fee of $24.95 and $24.95 per month, you get one credit intervention and six bureau challenges per month. With this plan, four months are spent on each credit bureau (Equifax, TransUnion, and Experian). You’ll also have to pay a one-time TransUnion fee which can range from $4.99 to $14.99.

Creditrepair.com’s credentials
To get a better idea of the company’s level of legitimacy, here’s a look at its licenses, registrations, awards, certifications, and the legal actions taken against it.
Licenses and registrations
Creditrepair.com does not mention any licenses or registrations on its website and none are required on a federal level. However, some states do require credit repair agencies to have a license and the company does operate in some of those states (e.g. Idaho).
Awards and certifications
No awards or certifications could be found for this company.
Regulatory or legal actions
Creditrepair.com’s parent company, Progrexion Marketing Inc., is being sued by the Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection. The suit includes allegations against both Creditrepair.com and Lexington Law.
The 2019 lawsuit alleges that the company is breaking the law by charging customers upfront fees and monthly fees for credit repair. While this is a common practice in the industry today, the complaint says that requesting or receiving upfront payments for credit repair is illegal under Federal law. The Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection claims that when a company offers a service that removes derogatory information from credit reports, fees can only be charged after a certain period and once the results have been achieved.
The complaint also alleges that Creditrepair.com and its closely-related marketing firm set up dummy websites designed to entice people into applying for nonexistent loans. When those applications were denied, consumers were referred to Creditrepair.com to boost their credit scores.
The company has denied the allegations and the lawsuit has yet to be resolved.

User experience
Creditrepair.com’s website is easy to navigate and has a user-friendly consultation process. It also features a credit education section that can help to answer many questions about credit and credit repair.
However, the company is not upfront with its pricing or service plan options. They are only visible once you apply and are found to be a good candidate for the company’s services. I was able to find information only by asking customer service and digging through the company’s articles, but even customer service won’t send you a brochure or list of plans.

Limitations

Many of the negative reviews and complaints result from customers paying the monthly fees and claiming they get no results. That said, Trustpilot tells a more favorable story. After 614 reviews, the company has earned a rating of 4.2 out of 5 stars.
Third-party ratings
Creditrepair.com has a rating of “D” with the BBB, on a rating scale that ranges from A+ to F.
