Miami Riverday

Where: Lummus Park Historic District, 250 NW North River Dr., Miami

Details: The 15th annual event will be go from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Downtown Miami’s Lummus Park, the original location of the Miami Riverday Festival and the first park built in the City of Miami. Nautica South Beach Triathlon

When: April 9-10, 2011

Where: Miami Beach, near 6th Street and Ocean Drive.

Details: Celebrities, athletes, corporate teams, paratriathletes and professional triathletes will compete in the fourth edition of this event. The event benefits the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. There are two races covering different distances in the ocean swim, biking and run. For more information visit

Miami Beach Festival of the Arts & Crafts

When: April 9-10, 2011

Where: Ocean Terrace at Collins Ave. between 73rd and 75th St.

Details: The 37th annual event showcases the work of 200 artists. The show has traditionally been a juried art affair. This year the show will add a crafters marketplace to be included with the fine art section. Admission is free and open to the public.

United Way Miami Wine & Food Festival

When: April 14-17, 2011

Where: Merrick Park (358 San Lorenzo Ave., Coral Gables), Intercontinental Hotel (100 Chopin Plaza, Miami), Mary Brickell Village (901 S. Miami Ave., Miami).

Details: Four days for food and wine events to benefit the United Way includes an interactive dinner with Chef Dewey LoSasso (The Forge), a beer and food tasting, and a fine wine tasting paired with food from over 20 local restaurants in an outdoor setting complete with a Blues band and a whiskey afterparty. Heineken Transatlantic Festival

When: April 14, 27, 29-30, 2011

Where: Grand Central (697 N. Miami Ave.), Bardot (3456 N. Miami Ave.) and the North Beach Bandshell (7275 Collins Ave., Miami Beach).

Details: The nearly monthlong music festival showcases emerging artists and Latino artists at three different venues around Miami. Coordinated by the nonprofit group Rhythm Foundation, this yeat’s schedule features Bomba Estereo and Spam All-Stars at Grand Central on April 14, Tango Conspiracy at Bardot on April 27, and a two-day finale at the Bandshell with Ceu, the Nortec Collective, the Antibalas Afrobeat Orchestra and singer Cleveland Jones. Pride Miami Beach

Where: Miami Beach, on Ocean Drive between 6th and 12th streets

Details: The Miami Beach Gay Pride parade and festival returns for the third consecutive year with Bravo’s Andy Cohen as the Grand Marshall of a parade that features a diverse array of floats. The day culminates a week long celebration that brings together members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community, their friends, allies, and supporters. Following the parade a festival on the sands of Miami Beach will feature 150 booths, food kiosks, exhibits and entertainment stages. For more info, visit

Health and Fitness Expo

Details: This two-day event combines screenings, demonstrations, activities and panel discussions are related to health and wellness. Sponsored by NBC 6 and Telemundo. The event hours are 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. both days.

Miami/Fort Lauderdale Gay and Lesbian Film Festival

When: April 21 – May 1, 2011

Details: The 13th annual, 10-day festival showcases over 100 films at five venues in Miami and Fort Lauderdale. From documentaries to shorts, the films vary in topic, ranging from drama to comedy, from transgender to Spanish language. For more information visit

Miami Beach Polo World Cup

When: April 21-24, 2011

Where: On Miami Beach, between 20th and 22nd Streets

Details: The annual event takes over the sands of Miami Beach behind the Setai Hotel and draws nearly 3,000 people over the four-day span. Matches take place between sponsored teams, with champions crowned in men’s and women’s competition. VIP lounges and viewing areas contain plenty of complimentary cocktails, champagnes and small bites of food. There will also be fashion shows, a concert, and private parties on a yacht. Food and Garden Festival

When: April 30 and May 1, 2011

Where: Fairchild Tropical Gardens, 10901 Old Cutler Road, Coral Gables.

Details: The annual celebration of local foods and the gardens they grow in. Gather new tips and recipes from popular culinary and gardening demos taught by top local chefs and gardeners. Local vendors showcase their best fruits, vegetables and herbs available in South Florida, as well as honey, jams and fresh baked goods and spices. Event goes from 9:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. and is free to Fairchild members and $25 for non-members, $18 for seniors and $12 for children.

Exxxotica Miami Beach

Details: Arguably the largest adult-themed consumer show in America, the Exxxotica Expo rolls into Miami yearly for a celebration of all things sexy.
