Treat Dad to a day out

A number of museums and attractions are offering free admission for fathers on Father’s Day with special events planned. Dads get in free Sunday at Jungle Island (with a paying child), which plans a special Father’s Day Bash. Admission is also free for dads (with a paying child) at the Miami Science Museum, which is celebrating Big Trucks and Fast Cars Day on Sunday. Admission is half price for everyone Saturday and Sunday at Flamingo Gardens in Davie.

Free downtown Miami concert

The Armenian-Russian-Miamian singer Egine will perform a free concert at 8 p.m. Friday at the Gusman Center in downtown Miami. Her music includes elements of all the cultures that have influenced her. Doors open at 7 p.m. This is part of a monthly free concert series.

Drums of all styles and sizes

All types of drums and drummers will be at the Little Haiti Cultural Center at 7 p.m. Friday when Delou Africa presents the Afro-Cuban Taiko Project, a group of drummers from Wisconsin. Local drummers will share works in the styles of Brazilian-Japanese Taiko, Afro-Cuban bata and Guinea griot drumming from West Africa. The family-friendly event is free.

Fly high at the Bird Road Art Walk

The Bird Road Art District doesn’t get the same attention that Wynwood does, but it is growing in popularity and stature, with lots of interesting art to see during the art walk the third Saturday of the month. This Saturday’s event, from 7 to 10 p.m., will also feature entertainment organized by the Cuban Soul Foundation. You can find the participating galleries here.

In short, free Spanish and French films

You can see a series of free Spanish and French short films at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the Key Biscayne Community Center. The event, organized by Red Chemistry in concert with local cultural organizations, will include a wine and cheese reception. Organizers will show three Spanish films and two French films, all with English subtitles.
