Wine, beer and sake – oh my! It’s week two of September and drinking options abound…
Tomorrow (Sept 9) head to SushiSamba Dromo for a Sushi & Sake 101 seminar led by corporate sake sommelier Midori Roth & executive sushi chef Shoyo Lida. The monthly class beings with an oviewview of traditions & history of sake, continues with a lesson on sake pairing and concludes with a hands-on lesson of sushi preparation. Each class includes five flights of sake & a sushi sampler platter.
Seafood is top draw Monday Sept 14 at Neomi’s Grill at Trump International. Sean Bernal of the Oceanaire Seafood Room & winemakers Dan Dineen of Maude Wines & John Kavanagh of Neudorf Vineyards will pair South Florida seafood with savory New Zealand wines.
Wednesday Sept 16, drop by the Blue Door at the Delano for Spanish themed El Coto wine dinner. The five-course feast features the Spanish wines of El Coto and related cuisine prepared by executive ched Maria Manso. Highlights include Salpicon de Mariscos (Spanish seafood salad of grilled octopus, shrimp, scallops & crabmeant) paired with Rioja Blano 2008 and Serano Wrapped Sea Bass paired with Rioja Crianza 2004.
Go highbrow Thursday Sept 24 and stop by Morton’s Fort Lauderdale for a champagne and chocolate tasting. Billed as an “Evening of Decadence,” the event features signature hors d’oeuvres, Piper Sonoma champagnes and Vosges chocolates.
Also on Thursday, Sept 24 Trina at the Atlantic Hotel celebrates its monthly Signature Cellar Series with a four-course feast. Chef de cuisine Farid Oualidi will helm the kitchen.
