Club + Bars

Wynwood Yard is closing. Can this new open-air hangout take its place?

Wynwood Yard closes this weekend. And through our tears we got some good news: There’s a new outdoor place to hang out in Wynwood.

Growynwood, an 18,000-square-foot venue that prides itself on its environmentally friendly conscience, has opened as a place to lounge, eat, drink, listen to local bands and hang out with friends. If one of those friends is a dog, don’t worry - Growynwood is pet-friendly, too.

You can even roast s’mores at sunset once The Pit gets fired up. Cool, right? That’s not something they let you do at Wynwood Walls.

The sustainability commitment isn’t just good PR. Partner Cerveza Patagonia has agreed to plant a tree in Florida with every case of beer it sells. So you can drink and feel good about it (not that you don’t anyway),

Local bands perform on the weekends.

Food vendors include Tumbao Buns, The Coco Market and Root N Seeds, so you can grab a bite if you’re hungry. Want a fancy cocktail instead of beer? You can even pick the herbs for it in the Garnish Garden, where mint, sage, rosemary and basil grow.

Now here’s the bad news: Growynwood is open this weekend but will close May 11. The good news is that the closing isn’t for long. The venue reopens June 1 with plans for movie nights, arts and crafts and more. So prepare to hang out all summer long.

Buy a cactus, save the planet.
