We got Paris, but no Mariah. Attendees of the soft opening of 1 Hotel South Beach Wednesday night were expecting to get a glimpse of the pop diva — whose name stood out on the invite — but no such luck. The shindig, called the Moguls Party, was located at the new property located at 2341 Collins.
It was for the hotel’s majordomo executives and VIPs. Sean Combs was also expected — his Ciroc vodka was a sponsor — but no one saw hide nor hair of the mogul either. All is forgiven. It was a glittery event nonetheless because socialite turned DJ Paris Hilton gives good star power.
The 34-year-old stood out on the red carpet in a dazzling floor length black gown festooned with (yes) gold stars and silver sparkly heels. The former Simple Life star, who also took a visit to Wynwood Walls as per Instagram, was overheard talking about a potential DJ residency in Miami. The heiress also got some advice from old pros Bob Sinclair and Paul Oakenfold, who reminisced about coming down here to the first Ultra over 20 years ago. Owners Barry Sternlicht and Richard LeFrak — who arrived with wife, children’s author Karen LeFrak — were talking with Tommy Hilfiger and his fellow designer wife Dee about how close their hotels were to each other. Tommy’s newest venture is on 18th — The Raleigh).
As for Carey, reps blame a flight delay. She appeared on The Late, Late Show doing “carpool karaoke” with new host James Corden Thursday night, but that was pre-taped.
