When will these entertainment reporters learn to tone down the snark?
Just a few weeks after Giuliana Rancic was taken to task for insulting Zendaya’s dreadlocks choice on E!’s Fashion Police, Univision fashion expert Rodner Figueroa (who also works on Sal y Pimienta) is out of a job after making disparaging comments about Michelle Obama, comparing to her a castmember from The Planet of the Apes, and not the human kind.

Figueroa was doing fashion commentary on El Gordo y La Flaca. The disaster went down during Wednesday’s segment on makeup artist Paolo Ballesteros’ viral undertaking of transforming himself into female celebrities including FLOTUS. The screen flashed Obama alongside Ballesteros’ version of her.
People en Espanol editor Armando Luis Correa Tweeted the Venezulan journalist’s dismissal in a Tweet late Thursday. Univision confirmed the news via e-mail.
In an open letter to the first lady, Figueroa apologized, telling the wife of the leader of the free world, among other things: “I want to clarify that I’m not racist and in no way was my comment directed at you, but rather the work of the [make up] artist, which left much to be desired.”
He reps major brands like Colgate.
