Renowned Japanese chef Makoto Okuwa delebrated the South Beach Wine & Food Festival Thursday night by preparing an exclusive dinner at The Estates at Acqualina.
Guests sipped champagne and wine during a casual cocktail hour under the sparkling twin Swarovski crystal chandeliers. Makoto mingled with guests, giving hints about the lavish dinner he had prepared while a jazz duo and pianist performed live.

The affair continued with a seated seven-course dinner for which Makoto cooked in front of guests, displaying his impressive knife and plating skills. He plated Toro Tartare, Kobe Beef Carpaccio dusted with gold leaf, Sashimi Salad, an intermezzo of sorbet, Sushi presented in impressive personal bamboo leaf boats, Sea Bass and Kobe Beef. Table settings embodied the Japanese theme of the evening, with rock gardens, candles and sleek bamboo, phalaenopsis orchids and galax leaf arrangements adorning the table.
