Democratic political analyst James Carville gave a fiery talk at Miami Book Fair Monday and has few positive things to say about the results of the 2016 election and even fewer to say about president elect Donald Trump (whom he called “an affront”). Here are the most interesting things he said.
On the fact that many people in the audience said they were afraid: “You’re not scared enough.”
On finding a silver lining to the election: “People come up and say, ‘Tell me something good.’ I can’t.”
On the fact that Hillary Clinton won the popular vote: “They’re getting ready to run roughshod. But they don’t have the will of the people.”
On Trump’s agenda: “This man does not come with a list of policies – he comes with a list of grievances.”
On being asked what he thought about Donna Brazile leaking debate questions to Clinton: “I can’t accuse anyone of immorality when I know damned well I’d do it myself.
On voters who cast their ballots for libertarian candidate Gary Johnson: “Our ass is up against the wall. We’ve got to quit talking about too many things. We don’t have time right now to worry about Gary Johnson.”
