Actress Jackie Cruz got her drink on in Miami Monday night.
The “Orange is the New Black” star, aka Flaca, and Remy Martin wanted Miamians to celebrate the launch of the 2016 Circle of Centaurs mentorship program, an extension of the One Life/Live Them campaign, that recognizes and celebrates individuals’ talents and passions.
“I am so excited to be heading down to Miami with Rémy Martin to celebrate Circle of Centaurs and my mentoring partnership with the brand,” she said before her trip. “The program pays homage to the brand’s history and foundation, which is rooted in passing down one’s knowledge and mentoring.”
Cruz said before she became known as an actor, she was a singer.
“I had my own band and I moved to New York to pursue my singing career – it just so happens that my acting career took off just as I moved to the city. I’m mentoring in the category of singing for the Circle of Centaurs because Rémy Martin wants to encourage individuals to celebrate, and reveal, their many talents.”
Cruz also said the best part of being on “Orange is the New Black” is getting to act alongside her best friend, Diane Guerrero, who plays Maritza. The buddies even have their own hashtag, #flaritza.
The worst part: trying to keep her weight down since her character is named “Flaca.”
As for giving up any plot points, her lips were sealed. “I love my job and want to keep it.”
