Beauty queen to lead magazine's 'Poderosas' event

Every year, People en Español gives a shout-out to 25 Latinas in its so-called power issue. It’s on stands now and chock-full of such gorgeous forces to be reckoned with as Daisy Fuentes, Lili Estefan and Angelica Vale. Mexican beauty queen Alejandra Espinoza will be hosting the Spanish language magazine’s Poderosas Live event, celebrating women making strides in entertainment and business.

The public is invited to attend the all-day free workshops and seminars held at the Intercontinental Miami Hotel from 1-5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19. Panelists will include inspirational speaker Maria Marin; Vistete Para Triunfar (See Yourself Winning) author Hada Maria Morales; model Lola Ponce; actress Adamari Lopez; and others. “The conference is a celebration of go-getters and is meant to empower women to be successful,” explains Espinoza, who won the first year of Univision’s beauty contest/reality show Nuestra Belleza Latina in 2007. “Poderosas are influential in their communities and who inspire others to do the same.” Espinoza has some other news:

The La Banda host gave birth to Aiden Matteo, in March (hubby is choreographer Anibal Marrero). “He’s a total beach baby already,” says the native Mexican. When mom has a few (rare) moments to breathe: “I spend my time in furniture stores to get décor inspiration for my new house.”
