Seafoodies rejoice – the 3rd Annual Sobe Seafood Festival hits Miami Beach again this month with plenty of new culinary talent and flavors for guests to try. If you’re planning on participating, we’ve broken down the week’s events for you:
Wednesday, October 21 – An Evening at Joe’s Stone Crab
Kick off the festival with a five course dinner paired with Hess Collection wines in Jessie’s room at Joe’s Stone Crab (where Al Capone and Frank Sinatra once dined). Tickets are $500 online.
Thursday, October 22 – GOYA Foods’s Cooking & Cocktails Interactive Dinner (hosted by STOLI)
Filmed in front of a live studio audience, the first episode in this interactive new series will feature GOYA Foods Executive Chef Fernando Desa teaching attendees how to create courses and cocktails. The program will include a cocktail reception, creation of five dishes and mixology demonstrations at the Miami Dade Culinary Institute’s Wine Theatre. Tickets are $250 online.
Friday, October 23 – Chef Showdown
The night before the main all-day event, 12 chefs will go head-to-head in six culinary competitions in the hopes of becoming a 2015 Chef Showdown Champion. The theme for this year’s showdown is “Fight Night” and will feature competitions in shrimp, tuna, surf & turf, taco, octopus and lobster. The competition pairings have been set:
Coyo versus Bodega – Taco battle
Red, the Steakhouse versus Smith & Wollensky – Surf & Turf battle
Poseidon versus Alter – Octopus battle
CIBO versus Chef Dustin Atoigue of Mondrian South Beach – Shrimp battle
Oceanaire versus Drunken Dragon – Tuna battle
Competitors will provide samples at stations to guests, who will vote on their favorites in each category.
Saturday, October 24 – Main Festival (all day)
The all-day main event on Saturday will feature pop up mini cafes by top Miami Chefs and participating restaurants including Joe’s Stone Crabs, Naked Taco, Red, the Steakhouse, Smith & Wollensky, Red Fish Grill, CJs Crab Shack, A Fish Called Avalon, Oceanaire, Tarpon Bend, Whole Foods Market and more. The festival will also feature live music performances, culinary and mixology demos, a kids zone, a health village and other interactive zones.
