Former Miami Heat star showing signs of improvement

Against all odds, Lamar Odom appears to be improving.

The ex NBA star, who had a short stint with the Miami Heat from 2003-04, has been reportedly battling for his life at a Las Vegas hospital since Tuesday after collapsing at a brothel in the area.

The 2011 NBA Sixth Man of the Year and estranged husband of reality star Khloe Kardashian reportedly drank alcohol, while ingesting herbal Viagra and doing cocaine at the Sin City locale.

But Odom regained consciousness on Friday, and no longer needs a respirator or dialysis, according to Lamar Odom is “way, way better” and is more conversational, a source told ESPN on Saturday. The Los Angeles Times reports that Odom, despite being in critical condition, was actually texting and speaking sentences over the weekend.

Seems like a tough road ahead but at least Odom, 35, has the support of his in laws: The Kardashians released a statement saying they have held off “publishing content across our apps while we continue to support and pray for Lamar.

His former teammate Dwyane Wade is also rooting for him.

Last week, the Miami Heat player (who was a rookie when they played together back in the day) told reporters that Odom is “just somebody you love to be around,” thanks to an “Infectious personality.”

Heat coach Eirk Spoelstra called him a “beautiful person” and one of the most “giving and sharing human beings” he had ever known.

On Monday, Odom’s aunt released a statement through her publicist saying that the former reality star is “alert” and “undergoing testing,” adding, “Each day Lamar is getting stronger and reaching significant milestones in his recovery.”
